It is a widely accepted fact and belief that MMA is the most brutal sport in the world. Its the place where every martial art merges into one another. Fighters suffer injuries on a daily basis but there are some who have been inflicted with the most deadly and painful ones. Former UFC Champion of the middleweight division and superstar Conor McGregor suffered similar kinds of injuries a couple year back. Quite recently the former was seen giving some rather resourceful advice to the Irishman.
Conor McGregor last fought in 2021 where the fight was ended after the first due to doctor’s stoppage whereas Weidman fought recently and emerged victorious.
Chris Weidman gives out advice to Conor McGregor
Former middleweight champion of the world Chris Weidman recently fought Bruno Silva and he won via a rather controversial unanimous decision. Weidman suffered a gruesome injury as he broke his leg in the first round of his fight against Uriah Hall. It was quite a coincidence when Conor also broke his leg in a similar manner towards the end of the first round against Dustin Poirier.
In a video uploaded by Full Mount MMA Chris Weidman said,
I know he watched my fight, I think he probably learned a lot watching my fight. Some of the red flags of what to be prepared for, for whoever he fights, and also maybe you’re not going to be able to throw [the kicks] back as much as you want. Or now, be prepared that could be something you have to deal with, so really train on kicking back. Because you want that to be second nature when you’re in there. For me, I thought I was good with that, but I wasn’t. I would have really worked at it more and realize there is a psychological effect when you break your leg in half like that. So you need to really get that habit back strong and focus on that. I don’t really think I need to say much. He should just watch my last fight and learn from that.
Weidman made it clear that he wasn’t able to throw the leg kicks in the same manner that he used to. He told Conor that he might want to get used to this fact or practice throwing a ton of leg kicks so he doesn’t have any issues in the fight. McGregor will surely find Weidman’s words useful for his upcoming bout.
