Dustin Poirier has given a prediction for his upcoming fight against Islam Makhachev. Poirier will lock horns against Makhachev and challenge for the lightweight title in June at UFC 302.
This would be Poirier’s third title shot after previously losing the chance against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira. It is worth noting that he is coming off a victory against Benoit St-Denis earlier this year.
As one would assume, Dustin Poirier is going into the fight with a lot of confidence. Ahead of the fight, ‘Diamond’ has given a bold prediction for his fight. During a recent interview with Yahoo Sports, he said:
“I’m going to knock him unconscious and the ref is going to be pulling me off of him.”

Will Dustin Poirier retire following UFC 302?
Dustin Poirier could very well be competing in his last UFC fight. Porier has seemingly achieved everything that there is to accomplish in the UFC except for an undisputed title.
Ahead of the fight, Poirier has suggested that this could prove to be his last fight. He said:
“It could be [my last fight]. I haven’t made an official decision yet, but it could be. I’ve said this over and over again, I still have a lot of tread on the tires. I can beat these young guys, I just did it… it’s just like, how much do I want to give to this sport, because you don’t ride for free…”
That said, it remains to be seen as to whether Poirier decides to retire or continue fighting following his UFC 302 fight against Islam Makhachev.
