Khabib Nurmagomedov is having a falling out with the Russian authorities.
According to several sites, including Mash, Russian Today, and Big News Network, the Russian Federal Tax Services owes the former UFC champion 306 million rubles, roughly $3.3 million.
Due to this debt, several of Nurmagomedov’s bank accounts, including his Eagle FC mixed martial arts company account and an account linked to his charity fund, are allegedly banned.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Take On His Wealth
The news was unexpected because “The Eagle” has never flaunted his money or made extravagant purchases, despite the widespread belief that he would be financially secure following retirement. The website of the Russian accounting firm Awara Group states that the level of a taxpayer’s guilt of tax evasion determines the legal repercussions.

“According to Mash, Khabib Nurmagomedov owes the Federal Tax Services in Russia 306 million rubles ($3.3 million USD).
The department has blocked the accounts of the Eagle FC promotion, a charitable foundation, and other companies.
According to the report, Russian authorities suspect that Nurmagomedov may have used the money he allegedly didn’t pay to the Russian state to purchase hotels and start-ups in Turkey and the UAE.”
After quitting the sport and giving up the title, Khabib has continued to be involved in the gym as a coach, working out with friends and family members such as Usman Nurmagomedov, a cousin and Bellator MMA lightweight champion, Umar Nurmagomedov, the UFC bantamweight champion, and Islam Makhachev, the current UFC lightweight champion. In addition, he owned Eagle FC (previously Gorilla FC) in November 2020 and began organising tournaments in his home country, Russia, and the United States.
However, a recent report from Russia claims that Nurmagomedov might be facing legal issues related to his business dealings and a debt of 300 million rubles, or more than USD 3 million, to the Russian tax authorities. Mash (h/t RT) broke the first story on Nurmagomedov’s unpaid taxes on Telegram.
Due to the significant differences this has caused in the burdensome paperwork and records, several businesses have had to close. The former warrior reportedly maintained hotels and startups in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates without contributing to the present administration’s coffers.
