UFC 299 featured Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor for the World Lightweight Championship on October 6th, 2018. However, the events that unfolded between the fighters and their teams after the fight overshadowed the actual battle.
The rivalry between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor occurred for months. Following Khabib’s videotaped slap of Conor McGregor’s friend Artem Lobov, McGregor and his group attacked a bus carrying fighters at UFC 223 on the van with Khabib and his group of people. As a result, the fight had higher stakes than just the title, and feelings ran high when it was all said and done.
Can Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Coach Befriend Conor McGregor?
Javier Mendez is a Mexican-American mixed martial arts (MMA) coach and the owner of the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) MMA facility. He was born on September 18, 1970. He is well known for training numerous MMA world champions, including Khabib Nurmagomedov. He was a two-time ISKA kickboxing world champion.
Javier Mendez and Conor McGregor’s relationship soured before UFC 223 when Conor constantly engaged himself in badmouthing his opponent. He just didn’t stop there but also bad-mouthed Khabib’s deceased father, along with his coach, calling him “fat”. During an interview, Javier stated at 13:00 that he would shake hands if Conor apologised for his comments towards Khabib, his family, and Javier.
Javier said, “ If he apologises for the words about Khabi’s father, I will shake his hands. He doesn’t need to talk to me. I have my own way of looking at things. He likes to create drama to attract attention, and I don’t like this”.
How Did Khabib Vs Conor’s Fight End?

Khabib knocked McGregor to the ground after forcing him into the wall. Following a struggle for position, Khabib applied a reverse choke hold, forcing McGregor to concede the fight and tap out, handing Khabib the victory.

Khabib glared at a defeated McGregor as soon as the judge broke up the two bouts before moving on to someone else. After pointing at Dillon Danis, McGregor’s jiu-jitsu coach, Khabib tossed his mouthguard at him. The current Lightweight Champion wasn’t satisfied with that, and he went on to assault Danis in the audience by climbing the octagon’s barrier.
As a result, a massive brawl broke out in the crowd, encouraging Khabib’s crew members to return to the ring to surprise Conor McGregor. He took a couple of blows to the back of his skull. After a while, security took Khabib out of the cage and put him back, where they had to maintain the separation between Khabib and McGregor.
