Rumour has it that Nurmagomedov’s issues with Russian tax authorities are related to his transfer of ownership in multiple enterprises, allegedly handing power to relatives and colleagues. The Russian Federal Tax Service opened an investigation as a result, finding documentation errors that led to the closure of some of his companies.
In addition, Eagle Fighting Championship, Nurmagomedov’s MMA promotion organisation, is allegedly being investigated and may soon be shut down.
Authorities believe Nurmagomedov may have used money intended for taxes to support startup companies and hotel projects in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
