The Welterweight division has always been one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC. Leon Edwards is currently the division’s king, having twice beaten Kamaru Usman for the title. Usman is on an uncharacteristic losing streak in the company. He last fought Khamzat Chimaev on short notice and hasn’t been in a fight since then.
Recently, Usman’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, gave a detailed update on Kamaru’s absence from the boxing ring and his expected return to the cage.
Kamaru Usman Set to Return by The End of Year
Kamaru Usman is represented by Ali Abdelaziz in the UFC. Usman had one of the best title runs, winning against Tyron Woodley and defending the belt five times in the cage before losing it to Leon Edwards. Kamaru last lost a close fight to Khamzat Chimaev in the octagon, which went the distance, and the former champ lost the decision. He hasn’t been seen in the cage since his loss against the Wolf. His manager gave us an update.
Ali Abdelaziz revealed that the future Hall of Famer will return by the end of the year as he is still recovering from some injuries. Usman has now had three consecutive losses in the octagon and will want to bounce back once he’s fully healthy and free of injuries. The fans of the Nigerian Nightmare will want Usman to win the next one to get back in title contention.
The 37-year-old is one of the most versatile fighters in the cage and has beaten many opponents using his heavy wrestling pedigree. It will take a ton of effort from Usman’s side to win against the newer contenders, given they are much younger and carry some heavy wrestling and striking arsenal. It will be interesting to see what happens in the Welterweight division when Kamaru Usman returns to the octagon.
