No one in the world has been more consistent in MMA than Jon Jones. The Heavyweight champion of the UFC has won every fight he’s been in since the last decade. He defeated Cyril Gane the previous year to become a two-division champion in the UFC and etched his name in the history books. Recently, former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub gave his take on what makes Jones an absolute monster in the cage and revealed the mental tactics he employed recently.
Brendan Schaub on Jon Jones
Jon Jones last fought Cyril Gane last year when he finished him in the first round of their bout. Jones will now fight all-time great Stipe Miocic, who has ruled the Heavyweight division of the UFC for quite some time. Many in the UFC consider Stipe the greatest Heavyweight of all time. In a recent appearance on the Jaxxon Podcast, Brendan Schaub revealed the mental games played by Jon. Schaub said,
We all know its an older Stipe. So he’s like we think he’s one of the best to ever do it, so he’s building him up so he will beat the shit outta him.
Brendan Schaub revealed that Jon Jones seems to be hyping up Miocic to justify him taking on the former champion. Miocic lost his last fight to Francis Ngannou and is currently 41. He’s certainly in the twilight of his MMA career in the octagon. Brendan claims Jon is playing mental games before his fight against Stipe.
Jon Jones has been called out by several other MMA stars, including Tom Aspinall and Jan Blachowiz. Many claim Jon is all set to call it a career after securing an easy win over Stipe Miocic. The UFC has yet to confirm the date for Jon and Stipe’s bout in the promotion, but it seems the duo will clash later this year.
