Just weeks away from one of the most anticipated UFC fights in recent memory and everything went away as it is no longer happening.
Heavyweight champion Jon Jones is out of his UFC 295 title fight against Stipe Miocic after he suffered a torn pectoral muscle in training that will sideline him for eight months, UFC CEO Dana White announced on Tuesday.
White’s announcement on social media included a video of the incident where you can see the moment it went down.
“Jon Jones was training last night, got injured, he was wrestling and he tore the tendon that connects your pec to the bone, off the bone,” White said on Twitter. “[Out] eight months, going to need surgery. He’s out.”
With Jones sidelined, Sergei Pavlovich — who was already set as the backup fighter for UFC 295’s main event — will now face Tom Aspinall to crown a new interim heavyweight champion.
The interim title fight will serve as the co-main event, with Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira for the vacant light heavyweight title as the new headliner.

Miocic will no longer compete on the card with the loss of the high-profile fight against Jones.
Pavlovich vs. Aspinall joins Prochazka vs. Pereira at UFC 295, with the card taking place at Madison Square Garden in New York on Nov. 11.
Prayers to Jon Jones for a speedy recovery so he can make his return back to the Octagon.
