The fight game’s biggest puzzle piece might finally be falling into place. Jon Jones, fresh off his victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, isn’t planning to ride off into the sunset just yet. For fight fans who’ve been biting their nails wondering about his next move, there’s finally some light at the end of the tunnel.
Speaking with The Schmo in a recent interview, Jones dropped a big news. He is not just thinking about coming back – he’s already in talks with the UFC about his next appearance in 2025.
“Right now, the UFC and I, we’re in negotiations. We’re in talks to see what happens next. I’m back in the gym. I’m training. I feel really great…Yes, yes, I will be competing in 2025, more than likely.”
The heavyweight champ is already back in the gym, which is probably bad news for whoever ends up standing across from him next year. Jones mentioned he’s got a “magic number” in mind for his return, though he’s keeping that figure closer to his chest. It’s classic Jones – always keeping fans guessing, always playing chess while others are playing checkers.
While Jon Jones is eyeing a super fight with Alex Pereira, UFC CEO Dana White has different plans, pushing for a showdown with Tom Aspinall. But ‘Bones’ isn’t completely shutting down the Aspinall fight, but his wallet needs to be properly convinced of that.

The Tristar Gym head coach didn’t just dip his toe in the prediction pool – he dove right in. Zahabi believes Aspinall would not only beat Jon Jones but do it within two rounds. He thinks Jones knows exactly what he’s doing by trying to angle for the Pereira fight instead.
“At heavyweight, this is going to be a dangerous fight. Jon is not crazy. Jon is going to go down to fight Pereira, but I don’t think the UFC gives him Periera. He has to fight Aspinall or nothing. I think [Aspinall] could be the man who beats Jon Jones and finishes Jon Jones,” said Zahabi via Tristar Gym YT channel.
Meanwhile, Tom Aspinall isn’t just sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. He’s already back in the gym, sharpening his tools like a handyman with a deadline. The negotiations are underway, and the British bruiser seems more confident by the day about his chances of sharing the octagon with Jones in 2025.
