Jon Jones went viral on social media after he posted a video on Instagram of him stopping protesters in Albuquerque, N.M., and confiscating their spray cans.
“Is this s— even about George Floyd anymore?” Jones wrote in his Instagram post. “Why the f— are you punk a— teenagers destroying our cities? As a young black man, trust me, I’m frustrated as well, but this is not the way, we are starting to make a bad situation worse. If you got love for your city, protect your s—. All you old heads need to speak up, call your young family members and tell them to come home tonight.”
The 32-year-old told the young protestors that vandalism “is not the way,” as they promptly handed the cans to him.
Taking those cans wasn’t the only thing Jones was doing in Albuquerque, he posted a video the very next day that showed him helping out small businesses either affected by looters or damage or helping those that didn’t want to get hit by the protesters in the next coming days.
Jones honored George Floyd, who was killed by Minneapolis police, by posting a photo of Floyd as a baby with his mother.
