The wait is finally over—UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is making his long-awaited return to the octagon. Jones will defend his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, marking one of the biggest fights of the year. Just weeks before the bout, “Bones” took to social media to post some glimpses from his training camp and shared a heartfelt message for his team as he prepares for his first heavyweight title defense.
The fight was initially scheduled for UFC 295, but Jon Jones had to pull out after suffering a torn pectoral tendon during training camp. UFC 309 will now mark his return to the octagon after more than a year and a half away.
In a recent Instagram post, Jones shared images of his training, featuring teammates and coaches like Gordon Ryan and Gable Stevenson. He expressed gratitude for their support and assured his fans he’d make them proud once more, accompanying the post with a heartfelt caption. He wrote,
“More than anything, I’m grateful. Grateful to everyone who’s put their time and effort into this journey. We are better together, and I’m so blessed to have one of the strongest teams in mixed martial arts history. What started as friendships have become unbreakable brotherhoods. My coaches have given me their absolute best, sacrificing nights away from their families. To my loyal teammates, there aren’t enough ways to express my thanks.”
Bones also shared a message for his fans, saying their support means everything to him. He’s excited to make them proud again as he prepares to return to the octagon. For fans, his comeback after a long break will be a highly anticipated moment.
