Joe Rogan has seen his fair share of intimidating fighters in the many years he has been with the UFC. But one encounter is burnt in his memory – the day he met a primed Francis Ngannou, and that too in the octagon.
Rogan recently shared this story on his popular JRE MMA Show podcast. He didn’t hold back when describing his first impression of the Cameroonian knockout artist. The UFC commentator revealed the awe and fear he felt by just interviewing Franci Ngannou.
“If you’re meeting Francis Ngannou. How f*cking terrifying is that? You’re a regular dude and you shake that guy’s hand, you’re like, ‘What the f*ck?’ I remember the first time I interviewed him. I was standing next to him, and I’m like, ‘What the f*ck, man?’ That guy is so powerful,” said Rogan.
It’s not hard to see why Ngannou left such an impression. At 6’4″ and 260 pounds, he is a walking, talking action figure. Plus, that chiseled body at heavyweight is a very rare sight to behold. And let us not forget those fists. They are practically registered weapons.
Joe Rogan couldn’t help but marvel at Ngannou’s raw power. There are many big guys in combat sports, but Francis Ngannou’s aura is different. He is not just a hulking mass of muscle but a finely-tuned fighting machine.
Joe Rogan Shows Concern About Francis Ngannou Fighting Renan Ferreira
Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champ, is set to make his PFL debut next month. He will face Renan Ferreira, the current PFL heavyweight king, on October 19th. Now, fans might think Ngannou would be the clear favorite. After all, he is a former UFC champ with fists like sledgehammers. But the longtime UFC commentator is not so sure.

Joe Rogan sounded the alarm about Francis Ngannou’s upcoming fight. He revealed that fighting after getting knocked out by Anthony Joshua could be a bad decision on his part. Speaking on the same JRE podcast, Joe Rogan said,
“This guy [Ferreira] is good dude. This is a dangerous fight. After he fought Joshua, that was a bad KO from one of the best knockout artists in boxing. [Ferreira] is f*cking dangerous.”
Francis Ngannou’s last outing wasn’t exactly a walk in the park. He stepped into the boxing ring with Anthony Joshua back in March. Joshua, known for his devastating knockouts, lived up to his reputation. He sent Ngannou to the canvas multiple times before finishing him in the second round.
