Jiri Prochazaka and Jamahal Hill will go against each other to ensure who the second-best fighter in the UFC light heavyweight division is. And whoever wins will probably be getting a title shot at Alex Pereira if he manages to remain the champion till then. Now, both Hill and Prochazka have something in common. Both of them were bulldozed by Alex Pereira. And while both seek revenge, Hill’s obsession for a rematch against Poatan is becoming a little too much.
Ahead of his all-important bout against the Samurai, ‘Sweetdreams’ is looking fixated on his UFC 300 defeat. And this trait right here, might spell doom for the former UFC champion. Atleast, Jiri Prochazka thinks so. When questioned about the same, Prochazka termed Hill’s obsession with fighting Pereira as a ‘big mistake’.
“I will just say that it’s a big mistake (if he’s not focused on me),” Prochazka stated on UFC 311 media day. “When you are not focused on what’s right before you, and you’re looking for another opponent, it will cost you a lot. Who are you? It’s just about staying humble, staying focused on what’s before you.”
Meanwhile, Jamahal Hill does not seem to be bothered by all the noise. Infact, he had stated that he feels mentally in a good state going into UFC 311.
Jamahal Hill Provides Major Mental Health Update
Jamahal Hill returned with eyes full of dreams at UFC 300. Trying to win back the title he never lost, Hill ran into a bulldozer named Alex Pereira. Before putting up much of a resistance, Pereira caught him at the 3:14s mark of Round 1 itself to crush his dreams for good. Naturally, such a dominant victory impacted Hill mentally. Thankfully, his mental health seems to have improved just at the knick of time.
Ahead of UFC 311, the former champion claimed to be in a ‘good spot.’ “I’m in a good spot. The bounce in my legs is coming back very, very well, and I haven’t really thought about my Achilles for a while now. The knee injury has not been as bothersome. I feel like we’re in a really good place to come out and put on a great performance,” said Hill in an interview with WOOD TV8.
