After two unsuccessful attempts to reclaim the light heavyweight crown, Jiri Prochazka is back in the spotlight with a stunning victory over Jamahal Hill at UFC 311. Fans are still talking about Prochazka’s incredible finish, which solidified his place as one of the division’s most dangerous fighters. But in typical ‘Czech Samurai’ fashion, he’s already looking ahead. Prochazka has set his sights on an ambitious new chapter.
During a conversation with Joe Rogan, Jiri Prochazka revealed his focus on dominating the light heavyweight division before moving to middleweight. While the idea of competing at 185 lbs interests him, Prochazka aims to first reclaim the light heavyweight title and prove his consistency in the division. He stated,
“And I said to myself like ‘okay you can go to the middleweight but first show the consistency in light heavyweight. Take a belt then you can with a belt from light heavyweight; you can fight for the belt for middleweight, in middleweight.”
Fans would undoubtedly love to see Jiri Prochazka take on new challenges, and if he manages to achieve the coveted double champion status, he will solidify his legacy as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history.
Jiri Prochazka Opens Up About Sauna Incident During UFC 311 Weight Cut
Prochazka recently shared details about a sauna mishap during his UFC 311 weight cut. Ahead of his fight with Jamahal Hill, the Czech fighter pushed himself too hard in the sauna, accidentally dropping to 200lbs instead of the 206lbs limit. Prochazka revealed on Joe Rogan’s podcast that he tried to mask the issue by drinking water before weigh-ins, stating,
“When I go do the sauna the night before the weigh in, I thought I’ll do my best, but I spent 2 hours in there. The second day after that I went to do the weight and I was like 91 kgs and I’m fighting in 93kg. I was only guy in the weigh ins trying to hide it by drinking one litre water”
