Israel Adesanya is your UFC Middleweight champion again after beating Alex Pereira by knocking him out cold at UFC 287 on Saturday night.
“Knocking him out cold” might be an understatement in this particular case as it was a crazy flex by the Nigerian given the cool, calm, and collected manner in which it happened.
Adesanya only needed nine minutes and two rounds to beat his opponent on the night but it appeared he was in some trouble as the second round approached its end after Pereira cornered him with two low licks that caused his left leg to buckle under him. Even so, Adesanya managed to counter, cool as you like, striking out with two heavy punches that left his opponent sprawled out on the mat.
Adding insult to injury, Adesanya put the icing on the KO by going full Oliver Queen, hitting Pereira with his own arrow celebration as he lay on the mat.
It was an unbelievable knockout followed by an even more unbelievable taunt, but can Adesanya be blamed for being overexcited after finally getting one over Pereira after four tries?
