Ilia Topuria made a statement earlier this year when he finished Alexander Volkanovski in the cage and won the UFC Featherweight title. He hit Volk with a deadly boxing combination, sending the former champion into the shadow realm. Some rumors are circulating in the MMA world that the Georgian will be heading a PPV event at the legendary Las Vegas Sphere.
Topuria is yet to defend his title in the UFC, and many thought he would be taking on his former opponent, Alexander Volkanovski. However, the UFC has other plans for Georgians.
Champion Ilia Topuria vs. BMF Holder Max Holloway
Max Holloway stunned everyone when he beat Justin Gaethje in the UFC 300. He holds the BMF strap and expressed interest in taking on the newly crowned champion in the cage, Ilia Topuria. It seems like the UFC listened to the American boxer. Rumors are going around that the promotion is scheduling the bout between Topuria and Max for the main event of UFC 306.
Dana White claimed earlier that he wanted to hold a mega event at the iconic Las Vegas Sphere. It seems like he is hell-bent on his word, as it was reported that the UFC is aiming for a massive fight between Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria in the main event of UFC 306. The Las Vegas Sphere is known for its legendary panoramic and 360-degree view. It will be intriguing to witness the event live in person.
Topuria is a much more versatile fighter in the octagon and a decent striker, whereas Max is a striking extraordinaire. Holloway holds an impressive record of successfully landing the most strikes in UFC history with over 1500. It will be interesting to see who emerges as the winner.
