UFC, the premiere organization where dreams are made and broken in the Octagon, with each striving to become a legend in the sport. Among all of these fighters, one fighter is making waves. Arman Tsarukyan, the rising star of the lightweight division, has thrown down the gauntlet as he declared his next move.
Artem Tarasov recently interviewed the Armenian fighter Arman Tsarukyan, who has set his sights on gold, whether Interim or the championship, rather than just any old fight. This is what he said:
“I am the Number one contender. [Makhachev] says that I only talk, how can a person talk and be in the top one?… I became number one and proved to the whole world that I am a contender for the title. And my next fight will be only for the belt. So it could be an interim title if [Makhachev] doesn’t have time to recover his hand. If he recovers his hand, it will be even better for me.”
Tsarukyan isn’t just talking the talk – he’s been walking the walk. And boy, has he been walking it well! The 27-year-old has been on a tear through the lightweight division. He’s currently riding a four-fight winning streak. His victims include a former champion and a top contender.
His most recent victory came against Charles Oliveira, the former lightweight champ. It was a split-decision win that had fans on the edge of their seats. Before that, he knocked out Beneil Dariush. He even fought against the champ himself back in the day. Now, it remains to be seen whether he can change the outcome of the previous fight and emerge victorious.
Dustin Poirier Willing To Fight Arman Tsarukyan For The Interim Belt
Veteran fighter Dustin Poirier has thrown his hat into the ring once again. This time, he’s eyeing an unexpected opportunity that’s arisen from unfortunate circumstances. The MMA world was rocked recently when lightweight champion Islam Makhachev suffered a hand injury. This setback has thrown a wrench in the UFC’s plans for their upcoming events.

Enter “The Diamond” Poirier, ready to step up and save the day. Well, sort of. He’s willing to face rising star Arman Tsarukyan, but there’s a catch. Poirier wants the fight to be for an interim title. It’s a bold move from a fighter who is no stranger to high-stakes battles.
“Is Arman (Tsarukyan) going to continue to wait for Islam? I don’t know when Islam is going to be back. I saw a sign that he might have to have surgery. Yeah, for sure (an interim title fight) interests me,” said Poirier.
Poirier’s proposal adds an interesting wrinkle to the lightweight division’s landscape. An interim title fight could keep the weight class moving forward. It would also give both Arman Tsarukyan and Dustin Poirier a shot at glory while Makhachev recovers. Fans would have to wait and see if this is a fight that interests the UFC brass.
