Conor McGregor is the undisputed megastar in the UFC. He established himself as one of the greats when he became the two-division champion simultaneously in the cage. The Irishman is set to return to the octagon later next month against Michael Chandler. However, a certain UFC veteran recently exposed the UFC’s mistake in failing to use Conor in the previous few months.
McGregor has been on the sidelines since he broke his foot three years back in a fight against Dustin Poirier. McGregor has often stated that he is ready for a matchup in the cage, and an insider claims that Dana White made a mistake in not using Conor anymore.
UFC Veteran Points Out Mistake of UFC with Conor McGregor
The Irish great is involved in the UFC’s highest selling pay per views. On his YouTube channel, Chael Sonnen revealed that UFC President Dana White made a massive mistake of not utilizing Conor McGregor in the cage this calendar year. Sonnen said,
I think if we were to look back at any mistake that we as an industry made is that we didn’t take Conor up on that.
Chael Sonnen clarified that the UFC should have let Conor in the cage when he claimed he wanted a fight earlier. McGregor revealed he was ready for a battle in the octagon later last year, but Sonne believes Dana White made a mistake in not putting Conor in the cage, which might have caused UFC to lose some big bucks.
Conor’s fight with Khabib was the highest-selling pay-per-view in UFC history, with over two million PPVs sold. It is also the second-highest-selling pay-per-view in combat sports history. Michael Chandler and Conor are set to meet in the main event of the UFC 302 on the 29th of June. The UFC is set to hold a press conference in Dublin, Ireland, to build up the massive fight event in Conor’s hometown.

It will be interesting to witness if Conor suffers from ring rust, having not fought for three years. On the other hand, Michael Chandler is a much more active fighter, having fought almost every top Lightweight contender in the cage.
