O’Malley was quick to call out the featherweight champion of the world. But the folks around the UFC quickly reminded him that one more contender was lurking at the Bantamweight throne. Merab Dvalishvili, in the past, has claimed many times that he is a rightful contender for the Bantamweight throne.

Merab Dvalishvili is on a ten-fight streak with the company. It’s one of the most significant win streaks in the UFC. He last lost six years back in the company against Ricky Simon via a guillotine choke. Since then, Merab has been manhandling his rivals in the middle of the octagon. His rivals seem to have no answer to his chain-wrestling. He made sure to call out Sean O’Malley several times now. Merab, in an interview, said,
Nothing official, Nothing yet, but I know I’m next. Nothing from UFC. I’m confident because after my fight, Dana White said I’m next. And also I heard some inside talk from the UFC that I’m next.
Merab Dvalishvili clarified that there is no official announcement, but he will surely be the next in line for a title shot. He is convinced, as Dana confirmed to him, that only he deserves to fight for the title next. He also claimed that he had heard rumors from some credible company insiders that he was getting the spot for the Bantamweight title contention.
On his dreamy run, Merab beat former champions Henry Cejudo, Petr Yan, and Jose Aldo in a rather impressive manner. It will be interesting to see how he matches up against Sean O’Malley. Sean O’Malley is the tallest man in the Bantamweight division. He is known to get into striking battles in title fights. O’Malley has stellar striking and excellent takedown defense.
