Rose Namajunas has already tasted gold, as she’s held the strawweight title twice. Now, she’s hungry for more. The former UFC strawweight champion is setting her sights on a lofty goal. At 31, she believes she’s in her prime to pursue double-belt glory.
Namajunas recently shared her ambitious plans with MMA fans in a recent appearance on the JAXXON podcast. She’s not content with just one championship. Instead, she’s eyeing a feat few have achieved: becoming a two-division champion.
“I always had a goal to become two-division champion as well and I feel like I’m at the right amount of time to be able to do that. And I knew it wasn’t just going to be like, super easy to go right in there right away. It was going to take some time to build up that momentum. I’m at the perfect age right now where I have that time, and yeah, here we are,” said Namajunas.
Namajunas spoke about her journey and reflected on past victories and defeats. Her wins over the current champion, Zhang Weili, stood out. But she also mentioned losing her belt to Carla Esparza. These experiences haven’t dampened her spirit. If anything, they’ve fueled her fire.
Namajunas sees her age as an advantage. She believes she has the perfect mix of experience and physical prime. This combination, she feels, sets her up for success. The path to double-champ status isn’t easy. Namajunas knows this well. She’s aware it takes time to build momentum. But she’s patient and determined.

Namajunas sees the ‘BMF’ title as a potential distraction. It comes with its own aura and expectations. These could derail her current plans. Her hesitation shows her strategic thinking. She’s not just chasing glory for glory’s sake and her every move is calculated.
“ Having a women’s ‘BMF’ title would be kind of cool. I’m probably not ready for it right this second, but I think it could happen. I want to become a two-division champ…That’s the only problem with the ‘BMF’ [title], because I feel like it comes with a certain type of aura to it,” said Namajunas via JAXXON Podcast.
Fans can’t help but admire her ambition. It’s refreshing to see an athlete so clear about their goals. Rose Namajunas’ journey promises to be exciting. Whether she achieves double-champ status or not, her drive is inspiring.
