Ilia Topuria and Conor McGregor have been trading shots at each other for a while now. These two UFC stars just can’t seem to play nice. Their latest verbal sparring match has fans chuckling and shaking their heads. It all started when ‘The Notorious’ decided to flex his Spanish credentials. The Irishman claimed he was “more Spanish” than ‘El Matador.’
Topuria, never one to back down from a challenge, fired back with a zinger. He responded to McGregor’s barbs and bought Francis Ngannou into the equation. His response had fans chuckling at the ingenuity.
“When I see myself in the mirror, below my waist, I also think sometimes I’m more African than Francis Ngannou,” said Topuria via The Ariel Helwani Show.
But this is something to note. Back when Conor McGregor was promoting his fight against Floyd Mayweather, he used the same phrase of being “black below the waist.” It seems Ilia Topuria has been watching too much of ‘The Notorious’, and his subconscious is putting that out.
Meanwhile, Ilia Topuria is gearing up for his first title defense. He is set to face the iron-chinned Max Holloway at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi. In just 2 weeks, there will be a new champion, or ‘El Matador’ shall cement his legacy in the featherweight division.
Ilia Topuria Dares Max Holloway To Point To The Ground In The First 10 Seconds Of Their Fight
Remember Holloway’s epic showdown with Justin Gaethje at UFC 300? That final-second knockout was something else. Holloway pointed to the ground, inviting Gaethje to slug it out, and it worked out pretty well for the Hawaiian at that time.

Now, Ilia Topuria is feeling bold. The new UFC featherweight champ is daring Max Holloway to bring the fireworks early. And by early, he meant in the first 10 seconds of their highly anticipated fight.
“I challenge you to have that exchange in the first 10 seconds of the fight, and you will see what’s going to happen. When you face a fighter like me inside the octagon, who brings that technique and that power, you can’t do that. I’m going to take your head off if you do that,” said Topuria via ESPN MMA.
Ilia Topuria’s warning to Holloway was pretty intense. But here’s the thing; Holloway is no pushover. He’s been in this game a long time and he has seen it all, done it all. Now the question remains whether he will take the bait or stick to his original gameplan.
