UFC 310 concluded in spectacular fashion, cementing its place as one of the top PPVs of the year. While Ian Machado Garry vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov wasn’t the main event, it carried similar hype. Garry suffered his first UFC loss at the hands of Rakhmonov, but both welterweights showcased why they are among the best in the division. Following the event, Garry addressed his loss to Rakhmonov for the first time.
Rakhmonov couldn’t maintain his perfect finishing record, but his undefeated streak remains intact. The fight went to a decision, with ‘Nomad’ emerging victorious. However, in the fifth round, the Irish fighter came close to securing a rear-naked choke multiple times but couldn’t finish the Kazakh star. Despite the setback, Garry remains optimistic. In a recent video shared on social media, Garry said:
“25 minutes with the baddest man in the division. He’s [Shavkat] human and I nearly beat him. Someone who’s a dominant grappler, who nearly finished it, OH it was the striker. This fight only further affirms that I am one of the best in the world.”
