Rose Namajunas, aka ‘Thug Rose,’ secured a decisive victory in front of her home crowd in Denver, Colorado, this Saturday. The main event featured the fan-favorite ‘Thug Rose’ facing off against the undefeated Tracy Cortez. Namajunas secured her flyweight contender status with a commanding decision victory over Cortez. Following the fight, Namajunas returned home with a generous paycheck.
According to Marca, Namajunas earned approximately $225,000 for her recent fight, matching the amount she received for her previous bout against Manon Fiorot. Due to her current #6 ranking in the flyweight division and her decisive victory over the #11-ranked Cortez, the 32-year-old is expected to earn more money.
Despite her devastating loss, Cortez garnerd a career-high $85,000 paycheck. She stepped in as a late replacement for Maycee Barber, who was initially slated to fight Namajunas but withdrew due to illness. This high-profile bout offered Cortez a significant recognition, although she lost.

Namajunas pushed hard with constant takedowns to secure her victory. She defeated Tracy Cortez by decision, ending Cortez’s 11-fight win streak. Even though Cortez made a late attempt to make a come back, ‘Thug’ was certainly unbeatable. After the win, the 32-year-old voiced her interest in a big fight, possibly a title bout or the women’s BMF title.
“Give me the belt, man, I want it. I’m Colorado’s first UFC champion, so I want to bring the second one back here. Either that or maybe a women’s BMF, I don’t know!”

Currently, Alexa Grasso holds the UFC flyweight title, who will likely face her former rival Valentina Shevchenko next. If that match doesn’t happen, Namajunas may just need to fight one more opponent before she can challenge for the title.
