Jose Aldo marked his highly anticipated return last night against ranked bantamweight Jonathan Martinez. The two fighters, competing at 135 pounds, were the co-main event of UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro.
For those unaware, Aldo’s last fight inside the octagon was a decision loss to the No. 1 contender, Merab Dvalishvili, at UFC 278 in August 2022. Following this, he retired from the UFC and went on to fight several boxing fights.
Jose Aldo Beats Jonathan Martinez
Returning to the UFC nearly two years later, Jose Aldo looked surprisingly sharp. The Brazilian established control early on in the fight as Martinez struggled to find his feet.
Moreover, Aldo hurt Martinez towards the end of the third and final round but failed to capitalize on it. As a result, he walked away with a unanimous decision victory.
That said, in this piece, we will examine his financial results from the fight. While nothing is confirmed now, Aldo is expected to walk away with at least $500,000.
