Fans witnessed a grueling five-round battle in the main event of UFC Edmonton, where Brandon Moreno emerged victorious over Amir Albazi by unanimous decision, with scores of 49-46, 50-45, and 50-45. Held at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, this Fight Night event saw Moreno reclaim his position in the win column following a recent loss. With this win, the Mexican fighter reaffirmed his dominance in the division and earned a respectable purse.
According to Sportysalaries, Moreno earned a guaranteed purse of $350,000, along with a $100,000 win bonus and a $20,000 sponsorship. In contrast, Albazi took home $300,000 as base pay for the fight and received $15,000 in sponsorship. Both fighters secured a significant payday.
Albazi’s six-fight UFC winning streak was halted by the Mexican fighter. Moreno, who was coming off a split-decision loss to Brandon Royval in his previous match, is now back on a winning track with this victory. This win could also position him as a contender for a title shot, as he is currently ranked #2 in the division. Moreno demonstrated in this fight why he’s a former champion and remains a top-ranked competitor. In the post-fight conference, he expressed his ambition to reclaim the title.
