In the main event, reigning light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira of the UFC will return to defend the championship against past winner Jamahal Hill. Pereira defeated Jiri Prochazka in a knockout to win the title in November. Hill had to give up the title last year after playing hoops and tearing his Achilles.
In his prime, Oliveira is still alive. The former champion dominated Beneil Dariush in his most recent outing (see it), earning a crack at the 155-pound crown, but he lost the fight against Islam Makhachev at UFC 294 due to a last-second cut. He will now face a formidable opponent, rising prospect Tsarukyan, who destroyed Dariush in their most recent fight. Tsarukyan, who shares a history with the champion with “Do Bronx,” aims to win his first UFC title shot.
