Khamzat Chimaev was forced to withdraw from his scheduled June 22 main event match against former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker due to another health issue. MMA fans and past fighters have expressed concern over Chimaev’s ongoing medical problems and how, regrettably, his career is taking a different turn than many had anticipated since the news of his withdrawal was made public.
In the MMA community, Khamzat Chimaev’s most recent withdrawal has raised concerns that his body would not be able to withstand the strain of constant training, weight loss, bouts, and the numerous ailments he has recently had to cope with.
Once thought to be the UFC’s face and a potential two-division world champion, he has booked five main event bouts on pay-per-view or Fight Night programs. However, he has withdrawn from all five of these engagements, which has undoubtedly caused some enthusiasm surrounding Khan to fade.
Former UFC two-division champion Daniel Cormier is one man who has recently expressed worry about Chimaev’s career.

MMA Junkie posted on X (formerly Twitter) about Daniel Cormier worrying about Khamzat Chimaev.
“ He lost a little bit of the lore that he had built around himself. So then it leads me to this: Did he fly too close to the sun? And now, it’ll be very difficult for him to reach the level of superstardom that we all expected from Khamzat Chimaev.”
‘Borz’s’ battle against Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 was nearly as hard as the matchup between Chimaev and Kamaru Usman, to which Cormier is alluding.
Chimaev has appeared human and beatable in his fights against Usman and Burns, two of the best fighters in the world. Given that Chimaev entered the UFC having destroyed every opponent he faced, much of the attraction surrounding Chimaev may have faded now that he’s beginning to exhibit flaws in his matches.
