Tony Ferguson is a name that resonates with all the fight fans. At 40 years old, the former UFC interim lightweight champion is still not ready to hang up his gloves just yet. Despite riding a seven-fight losing streak, ‘El Cucuy’ remains steadfast in his commitment to the UFC.
Ferguson is set to face Michael Chiesa at UFC Abu Dhabi tomorrow night. It’s a crucial bout for the 40-year-old fighter, who many believe is on his last legs in the promotion.
UFC CEO Dana White has hinted that this could be Ferguson’s last dance in the octagon. However, the veteran fighter seems to have other plans. He’s not interested in retirement or jumping ship to other organizations.
“I do want to be here, I don’t want to go fight for another organization. Where the f*ck am I going to go? BKFC and have Conor [McGregor] work for me again? No, I don’t want to do that s*it. Literally, this is my home. It’s always been my home,” said Ferguson during the UFC Abu Dhabi media day presser.
Ferguson’s comments took an interesting turn when he mentioned the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). He took a jab at Conor McGregor, who recently became the part owner of BKFC. ‘El Cucuy’ sarcastically said he wouldn’t want to make McGregor work for him again.
Ferguson’s loyalty to the UFC is admirable, and his determination is palpable. He acknowledges his seven-loss streak but sees this fight as a chance to “earn that right” to stay in the UFC. Both he and his opponent, Michael Chiesa, are riding losing streaks, and it’s a must-win situation for both fighters.

Tony Ferguson Responds To Dana White’s Comments That He Should Retire
Talks and requests about retirement just aren’t meant for Ferguson’s ears. The ever-resilient UFC veteran has again proven he’s not ready to throw in the towel. ‘El Cucuy’ recently fired back at UFC CEO Dana White’s retirement suggestions with his trademark wit and determination.
Ferguson, who is set to face Michael Chiesa at UFC Abu Dhabi, finds himself in a precarious position. He’s riding a seven-fight losing streak, a situation that would have most fighters out of the UFC and contemplating retirement. But ‘El Cucuy’ isn’t like most fighters; he is a different breed. He took a shot back at the UFC CEO for his comments.
“Well we want Dana to do a lot of s**t last for him too. So we can’t discredit that one either. I’m being real with it. At 170 pounds, I’m not killing myself to get to 155. I do feel fresher. 155 pounds is closer to my high school wrestling weight, 152 pounds. So you guys do the math,” said Tony at the media day presser.
The 40-year-old fighter seems to be embracing his age rather than running from it, and as such, his move up to welterweight appears to have rejuvenated him. He feels fresher at 170 pounds, no longer having to endure grueling weight cuts. Tony Ferguson’s confidence is palpable as he approaches this crucial bout. Fans are excited to see if El Cucuy breaks the losing streak or the record for the most losses in the UFC at UFC Abu Dhabi.
