Khabib Nurmagomedov Struggles Amid Russian Raids on His Gym
In a coordinated attack on churches and synagogues in two cities in Dagestan, law enforcement officers neutralized the assailants. One of the attackers was Gadzhimurad Kagirov, an MMA fighter connected to the gym of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s late father. Recently, Russian forces surrounded and inspected this gym to investigate any ties to Kagirov. While many criticized Khabib, he posted a photo on Instagram writing, “Man and male gender are not the same. It’s hard to conform to it, and it’s even harder to stay on track.”
The attacks also took place in Makhachkala, the hometown of UFC lightweight champion Islam Makachev. Reports have emerged linking an MMA fighter involved in the Dagestan terrorist act to Team Nurmagomedov, but Khabib has denied any involvement. MMA gyms in Dagestan, including Nurmagomedov’s gym, are generally open to the public, allowing anyone to train. Khabib stressed that he had never been associated with that team.
