Former Champion TJ Dillashaw has enjoyed father time since hanging up his gloves in 2022 when he lost to Aljamain Sterling. Being a two-time Bantamweight champion of the UFC, Dillashaw is aware of how things work at the absolute top of the UFC. He has had many major opponents in the past, but one stands out. Tj Dillashaw was spotted expressing his support for one of his main octagon rivals at the UFC 300.
TJ Dillashaw did complete the objective of winning the UFC gold but had a hard time with the doping agencies.
TJ Dillashaw is rooting for his former rival
Former two-time Bantamweight champion of the world TJ Dillashaw is enjoying the MMA scenes, but this time as a viewer as he hung up his gloves after losing his bout to Aljamain Sterling in 2022. TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt go way back. Both of them fought for the title in 2018; TJ won the bout quite comfortably when he knocked out Garbrandt in the first round of their fight. In a recent interview, TJ said,
I though he’d get the win. I was hoping he’d get the win, I was rooting for him even with all the bullshit drama going on between him and us fighting each other. I was rooting for him.
TJ Dillashaw clarified that he was rooting for his former opponent and champion, Cody Garbrandt. Dillashaw made it clear that he has no bad blood left for Cody, as both of them were heated rivals in the past. They exchanged a ton of verbal jabs leading up to their fight. After all was said and done, Dillashaw emerged as the true winner of their bout. He knocked Cody out with a straight right, which shut off the lights for Grabrandt.
Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw were two of the best fighters in the division a few years back. Cody wasn’t able to deal with his opponent’s grappling. He was taken down several times during the three rounds and ultimately finished there. Cody was a bit better on his feet, demonstrating thrilling speed and spectacular boxing combinations. It will be interesting to see if Cody responds to what TJ has to say about him.
