The UFC Saudi Arabia is all set to go ahead this weekend in the iconic Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. Former champion Robert Whittaker will take on the latest UFC star, Ikram Aliskerov, in the main event. Ikram volunteered to fight Whittaker on short notice after Khamzat Chimaev withdrew due to illness. Ahead of the highly anticipated fight, former UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov lauded Ikram recently and had some positive words for his fellow Dagestani.
Ikram Aliskerov is only three fights old in the UFC but has already gotten the chance to fight Robert Whittaker in the octagon.
“He Is a Future Star”
Khabib Nurmagomedov, the former world lightweight champion, is probably the most dominant fighter in the UFC’s history. He put Dagestan on the MMA map. Since Khabib, many Dagestani fighters have entered the UFC, including Ikram Aliskerov. The 33-year-old took the Middleweight division by storm and won all three fights in the first round by finish. Nurmagomedov was spotted giving his take on Aliskerov in an interview. Khabib said,
When Ikram steps into the octagon he uses 200% of his capabilities. That’s the impression I get. I’ve known him since childhood. I think Ikram is a future star.
Khabib Nurmagomedov revealed he has known Ikram since he was a kid and clarified that Aliskerov is a versatile fighter in the cage. The UFC Hall of Famer claimed that he is all set to be a massive star in the future.
This is the first time Ikram is set to feature in a five-round fight in the octagon. It will be interesting to see how the Dagestani fares against Whittaker, as Robert is quite efficient in every realm of fighting. The man has done it all in the octagon, whether striking, Jiu-Jitsu, or wrestling.
