Title fights always draw the attention of fans and MMA stars, who often share their predictions for the outcome. Fans and fighters alike are excited about the upcoming PPV event featuring Islam Makhachev vs. Arman Tsarukyan for the lightweight title at UFC 311. Ahead of this highly anticipated fight, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has shared his prediction.
UFC 311, the first PPV event of 2025, is generating massive hype among fans. UFC stars, including Robert Whittaker, are also excited about the event, with Whittaker recently sharing his thoughts on the main event. Appearing on the MMA Arcade podcast, Whittaker said:
“I just feel like there is a gap. I feel like there’s a skill gap. Everyone says how well Arman went in his debut [against Makhacehv], last minute, short notice, etc, etc. But you look at the names. You look at the level of fights, and the stage that Islam’s fight was set on. I don’t know. Islam is in a very good place right now. I find it very hard to see him getting defeated.”
Whittaker also expressed his respect for Tsarukyan’s skills but believes there is a noticeable skill gap between Tsarukyan and Islam Makhachev. He pointed out that when comparing Makhachev’s performance against Dustin Poirier to Tsarukyan’s fight with Charles Oliveira, Makhachev stands out.
