Former UFC fighter has suggested Justin Gaethje might’ve been overconfident in his fight against Max Holloway.
Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway locked horns inside the octagon this past weekend at UFC 300. Ahead of the fight, Gaethje was the favorite, and considering the fact that Holloway was moving up in weight, not a lot of people predicted him to win.
However, Holloway shocked the world by putting on an emphatic performance at UFC 300. After dominating Gaethje for the majority of the fight, he secured a vicious knockout with just one second remaining on the clock.
Speaking about the same, former UFC champion Michael Bisping has given his thoughts. While suggesting that Justin Gaethje might have been overconfident, he said: “I think he was a victim of his own success. Knocking out Dustin Poirier the way that he did and everybody riding the coattails and being a fan, for obvious reasons. He’s a very exciting fighter and very accomplished. He thought he was going to go right through Max Holloway. He really did, and he was looking for the knockout constantly. You can’t do that. When you’re looking for the knockout, you telegraph the shot.”
What is next for Justin Gaethje?
After suffering a vicious knockout in his last fight, the future of Justin Gaethje is surrounded by a lot of questions. Going into the fight against Holloway, it was believed that he could potentially fight for the lightweight title if he wins against Holloway.

However, his loss seems to have changed the trajectory. There is nothing certain at the moment, but it seems like Gaethje might be taking some time off. That said, it remains to be seen as to what lies ahead of him inside the octagon.
