Colby Covington made a return to the UFC octagon with a lot of hype. However, things didn’t turn out in a favorable manner as ‘Chaos’ lost his match against Joaquin Buckley via a knockout. Now, while the general consensus was that Covington would be going back to the drawing boards, he has come up with a lofty ambition instead. The UFC welterweight fighter has called out the former middleweight champion, Sean Strickland. And this is something Michael Bisping doesn’t approve of.
Bisping was a middleweight champion himself. Thus, he knows exactly what it takes to succeed in the weight class. And according to him, Covington is currently not fit for the same. He also stated that coming back after such a long gap, Dana White will not be eager to give ‘Chaos’ an immediate big fight.
“Colby Covington vs. Sean Strickland, first of all, Colby’s too small, simple as that,” said Bisping. “Colby Covington, I don’t think he’s going to be fighting Sean Strickland anytime soon.”
Bisping continued that if Sean Strickland managed to beat Dricus du Plessis, Covington would be getting an immediate title shot. This was an absurd situation, according to Bisping. Meanwhile, Colby Covington sounded quite serious about his scathing words to Sean Strickland.
Colby Covington Calls Sean Strickland A “Cardio Kickboxer”
Colby Covington recently expressed his wish to move up in weight. Aiming for the middleweight division, Covington called out Sean Strickland as his next potential opponent. However, the manner in which ‘Chaos’ decided to call out the former UFC middleweight champ was not a pleasant one.
“Honestly, 185 is intriguing. The Sean Strickland fight is always interesting. I don’t think he’s anything special. He’s got a jab, a front kick… He’s very limited; he’s just a cardio kickboxer. It’s an entertaining fight that I might entertain in the future. We’ll see,” said Covington.

Thus, it is evident that after a tough loss, Colby Covington is looking to rile things up once again. However, whether or not he succeeds in doing so will be a question that only the future can answer.
