The Light Heavyweight division is the most exciting in the UFC. Alex Pereira is the reigning champion. He has beaten every opponent in title fights via knockout, and he is probably the best knockout artist in the company. Alex Pereira last knocked out Jamahal Hill in the first round of the main event in UFC 300. Recently, his former opponent, Jan Blachowi, made a massive claim against Alex in an interview given recently.
Jan Blachowiz became the UFC champion when Jon Jones vacated the title five years ago. He knocked out Dominick Reyes to claim the light Heavyweight belt.
Jan Blachowiz on Alex Pereira
Jan Blachowiz is one of the best Light Heavyweights in the company. He is among the few fighters beating former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Blachowiz last fought against Pereira when he lost via decision after three rounds. Many believe that Jan might have won the bout against Alex. His next opponent has yet to be decided on in the octagon. Blachowiz revealed why he thinks he deserves to fight for the title. Jan said,
He is not a better fighter than me, and I believe that I deserve the rematch. He knocked out everybody- not me.
Jan made it clear that he thinks he’s the better fighter among the two fighters and he deserves the rematch because he has knocked out every single one of his opponents, barring Jan. Blachowiz did not let Alex have his way in the first round as he took Pereira down and inflicted some heavy damage on his opponent. But Pereira found some success in the later rounds.
Jan Blachowiz is arguably the more complete fighter than Alex Pereira. Pereira has a massive knockout pedigree, but he could not do it against Jan Blachowiz. Jan is one of the best fighters on the planet, and it will be interesting to see if he can beat Alex Pereira inside the octagon. It will be interesting to see what happens in the Light Heavyweight division soon and who Pereira will face for his next title defense.
