Alexander Volkanovski has had a rather tough year in the octagon, given that he lost his UFC gold inside the octagon. Volkanovski was a long-time champion and is considered an all-time great in the Featherweight division. In an interview, when he was quizzed about who he thought was the Featherweight gold, he got a rather interesting answer. Volk has been the champion for almost half a decade before losing his belt to Ilia Topuria in the second round.

The former champion of the Featherweight division, Alexander Volkanovski, is still looking for his next opponent in the octagon and wants to take on Ili Topuria once more to reclaim his title. In an interview, Volk was asked who he thinks is the Featherweight GOAT in the UFC. Many thought Alex would take his own name, but that was not the case, as he named someone else. Alexander Volkanovski said,
I am going to say Aldo because he was the champion for a very long time.
Alexander Volkanovski responded humbly and claimed that Jose Aldo is the greatest in the Featherweight division. Folks were shocked at Alex’s humble response. Volkanovski clarified that Jose Aldo is the greatest for the sole reason. Alexander Volkanovski praised Aldo’s reign as a champion for almost a decade. Aldo is still in the Featherweight division, trying to reach the absolute top.
Jose Aldo won the title and defended it eleven times, the most in the Featherweight division. He beat many legends, including the Korean zombie, Cub Swanson, and Urijah Faber. Seven years later, he lost his title to Max Holloway, ending his reign as the king of the Featherweight division. Jose Aldo is set to take on Jonathan Martinez in the co-main event of UFC 301 in his homeland, Brazil. It will be interesting to see what happens in the UFC 301 and if Aldo can make his return to the UFC gold.
