Ilia Topuria holds the crown at the Featherweight. Being a division champion gives you the power to select your opponents in the octagon. Ilia Topuria is still looking for his next opponent in the octagon. Topuria is one of the most versatile fighters in the division and can beat up anyone. In an interview, when he was asked who he wanted to face, he gave out a reply. Ilia Topuria said,
Brian Ortega makes more sense. He’s always ready to fight plus he just beat Yair.
Topuria wants to fight Brian Ortega in the octagon. Brian Ortega previously fought Yair Rodriguez and emerged victorious. He also took on Alexander Volkanovski and almost finished him in the ground via the guillotine choke. Brian Ortega will be an exciting matchup for Ilia inside of the cage. He is an elite grappler and an all-time great striker in the company. Ilia wants to take on T-City Ortega to establish himself as one of the greats.
Ilia also called out Max Holloway, who was previously in the cage. A fight between Max and Topuria might also be on the cars as they are two of the best of all time. Holloway recently knocked out Justin Gaethje in the final minute of the final round of their BMF bout in the UFC 300’s main event. Topuria clarified that he wants to fight one more time before the year ends.
