The division has seen major shifts while Jon Jones has been sidelined with a torn pectoral. Tom Aspinall is now the interim champ and is gearing up to defend his title against Curtis Blaydes. Meanwhile, Jones has been watching from the sidelines as things changed. Surprising fans, the UFC legend is hinting at a comeback by the end of the year and has been posting training videos on social media.
In a recent Instagram post, the heavyweight champion revealed that he is 16 weeks away from his highly anticipated return. In the post, he wrote,
“Tomorrow, I’ll be 37 years old !! I’m 260 pounds 16 weeks away from fighting the most decorated heavyweight in UFC history. I feel like I’m in a great spot right before training camp ramps up. My form is far from perfect in these videos, but I’m happy with it considering the surgeries I recently had. 16 more weeks to become the beast, that’s exactly what I will do. #Champion2024.”
The 37-year-old has now recovered and is back in training, which has likely fueled renewed excitement for his comeback with his recent video. While no fight has been officially announced, Jones has confirmed a return date by himself.

Jon Jones has not fought since his first-round submission win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in March 2023, where he claimed the heavyweight title. Due to his regular absences, he has also lost the top spot in the pound-for-pound rankings. Will he return to the UFC octagon soon? At least fans hope for it.
