The UFC welterweight division has always been a shark tank of talent and drama. Recently, a tragedy struck as Belal Muhammad had to pull out of his UFC 310 headliner against Shavkat Rakhmonov due to a nasty bone infection in his foot. Now, Colby Covington has given his take on the UFC 310 main event. He seems to be ready to take on the undefeated Kazakh.
Covington hasn’t fought since his unsuccessful bid for Leon Edwards’ welterweight crown at UFC 296. In a surprisingly humble interview with Submission Radio, the usually brash “Chaos” revealed he’d reached out to the UFC about potentially saving the show.
”I offered, I told the UFC that I was willing to step up to the plate. I would love to save the show and put on a good show for the fans…So, I was excited. I wanted the fight, and I asked for it, but I think they have other plans.”
Covington’s relentless wrestling and cardio would stack well against Rakhmonov’s perfect record and finish-or-be-finished style. The ‘Nomad’ has been steamrolling through the division, while Covington has always been someone who has the heart and just refuses to quit.
However, as Colby Covington mentioned in his interview, the UFC seems to have other plans. Maybe they’re looking to reschedule the Belal Muhammad fight, or perhaps they’ve got something else cooking in their matchmaking kitchen. Whatever the case, fans are in for an excellent display of prowess and skill when it comes to the undefeated Kazakh.

The social media response to Covington’s offer saw an overwhelming reaction about Colby Covington lying about this. They cited that he did not even take on Ian Garry with a full camp, and he wasn’t fighting Shavkat Rakhmonov on short notice.
Here are some of the reactions from fight fans:
Whether the responses are justified or not, it does seem that the MMA world sees Colby Covington as someone who is now past his prime. It has been almost a year since his last dance in the Octagon. It remains to be seen when he will make his comeback and against who.
