Tom Aspinall is one of the hottest prospects in the Heavyweight division in the UFC. He beat Sergei Palovich in the very first minute of the first round of their bout. He currently holds the interim Heavyweight strap in the division. Jon Jones is the undisputed champion of the world after beating Cyril Gane. Aspinall has expressed before that he wants to take on Jon Jones in a bout.
Quite recently things got a bit awkward when the two heavyweights came face to face outside of the octagon.
Tom Aspinall opens on the Jon Jones encounter
Tom Aspinall since becoming the Interim Champion of the world in the Heavyweight division has his sight set on the undisputed championship of the world in the UFC. He might not have met Jon Jones inside of the octagon but he did meet the legend Jonny Bones outside of it recently. On their rather weird encounter Aspinall said,
I wanted to face off.
Tom Aspinall made it clear that him and Jones were in the same venue doing a meet and greet with the fans. Aspinall just couldn’t let the opportunity to meet the the all time great slide and went on to shake his hands. Aspinall put a hand on his shoulder by Jones made sure to keep Tom’s hands away from him. That cause a stir on social media.
It’ll be interesting to see how does Tom fares against Jon Jones if they are to ever meet inside the octagon. Jon Jones was set to fight Stipe Miocic and had to pull away from the bout as he suffered from an injury. There were reports that Jones will retire after he beats out Stipe Miocic. If Jones retires after the fight the fans won’t get to witness the Englishman take on the alleged greatest of all time.

Tom Aspinall will be willing to return to the octagon as soon as possible against Jon if possible. It will be interesting to see what happens in the Heavyweight division in the future.
