It was pretty surprising when Dana White’s promotion cut Mohammad Mokaev from the roster after UFC 304. But even though he’s no longer with the UFC, it looks like he’s still lined up to fight a UFC fighter, with Raul Rosas Jr. seemingly ready for the matchup.
Like many UFC fighters, Mokaev comes from a strong wrestling background, which has been evident in his career. With four submissions in his seven fights, his grappling dominance is clear. Similarly, UFC sensation Rosas Jr. has gained recognition for his outstanding wrestling, relying on his ground control to overpower opponents in the cage.
Talking about their upcoming fight while there is still no official word on it yet, ‘The Punisher’ hinted at something brewing with a recent post on X. As he stated, “Young Blood vs. Young Blood. Dagestan vs. Mexico. Who can guess this matchup? It’s a grappling match.”
Rosas took to his Instagram story to announce he’s back in the grappling game, sharing that he’s signed a contract for an upcoming event. He hyped it up by saying, “This match will be fire.” Mokaev’s fans will be excited by this news, especially after his unexpected exclusion. Now, with a fight against Rosas Jr. on the horizon, it’ll be exciting to see if Mokaev can impress the UFC brass enough to secure a contract with the promotion.
Why Muhammad Mokaev Was Cut From The UFC Roster?
Being a skilled fighter is one thing, but being professional is another. For this reason, reports indicate that Mokaev has been removed from the UFC roster. As per reports, ‘The Punisher’ has been a headache for UFC matchmakers. And after his last confrontation with Manel Kape in a hotel lobby, just days before UFC 304, raised tensions between them.
At the UFC 304 post-fight press conference, White mentioned that the matchmakers aren’t fans of Mokaev, which contributed to his release. Even when Mokaev offered to fight for free, White still turned him down.

In his words, “[Mokaev] is just a guy that did everything wrong. And pissed these guys off…They weren’t happy with the way he acted. They weren’t happy with a lot of things he did and said…You did it. You put yourself in this position..”
However, shortly after, he announced that he found a new promotion (Brave FC) and signed with them. For now, all eyes are on his upcoming fight against Rosas Jr.
