Georges St-Pierre was a dominant force in the welterweight division during his prime. He also held championship belts in two different divisions. Despite his achievements and being considered one of the greatest fighters ever, St-Pierre has shared that he actually disliked fighting. He explained that, despite all his success and achievements in the sport, he didn’t find joy in competing.
Recently, GSP appeared on a podcast with YouTuber Theo Von, where he talked about his dislike for fight day, his comeback from setbacks, and his gratitude for fighting when he did. He also discussed how he keeps his competitive spirit alive. St-Pierre said,
“It’s unbearable for me. I’m extremely uncomfortable. Not knowing if I will be hurt, humiliated or winning the ultimate prize is unbearable for me.”
GSP also mentioned that while he may not enjoy fighting itself, he loves the sport and the science behind it. He discussed how training camps made him feel like he was preparing for war. Despite his feelings, the 43-year-old indeed left a significant legacy in the UFC.

He also added, “I don’t think that I’ll live long enough to see it in the Olympics; and the reason is because it’s called Mixed Martial Arts, it’s a combination of different combat sports.”
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games feature various combat sports, including Greco-Roman Wrestling, Freestyle Wrestling, Judo, Boxing, and Taekwondo. However, MMA was not included this time. Whether MMA will become part of the Olympics in the future remains to be seen.
