Injuries are a part of every contact sport, especially Mixed Martial Arts. It’s unavoidable, but a recent MMA bout may have the single worst leg injury in the sport’s history.
Dylan Reischman, a 21-year-old featherweight, was fighting in his professional debut against Jaime Mora at Combate Global on September 2, and suffered a gruesome broken leg during the fight. As Mora went for a take down, Reischman’s foot got trapped on the mat, which led to a nasty snap where his leg broke in half and the bone appeared to protrude through the skin. The video of the incident below is hard to watch. Video discretion is advised.
Needless to say but the bout was stopped immediately. The 21-year-old was in obvious agony following the injury, and was taken to the hospital. It is currently unknown what bone or bones are broken, but the severity of the break is evident. The fight was stopped midway through the second round.
This was a difficult start to Reischman’s career, and we at Total Pro Sports hope he can recover fully and return to the ring.
