Dustin Poirier is widely considered to be one of the best lightweights on the planet. The former UFC interim lightweight champion currently ranks as the number 3 lightweight on the roster. Currently boasting a professional record of 29-8, Dustin Poirier suffered his first loss back in 2010 against Danny Castillo at the WEC 50. Poirier’s second loss came in 2012 when he lost to Jung Chan-Sung via submission in what was his fifth fight in the UFC.
Poirier’s thirds loss in MMA came against Cub Swanson via unanimous decision in 2013. Later, ‘The Diamond’ suffered his fourth loss at the hands of Conor McGregor in 2014 via TKO. In 2016, he lost again, this time around against Michael Johnson.

He challenged for the championship again in 2021, this time against Charles Oliveira. However, his fate wasn’t different and he suffered his seventh loss.
Dustin Poirier suffered his eighth professional loss in his last fight inside the octagon against Justin Gaethje last year.

Dustin Poirier speaks on the UFC 299 line up
As mentioned earlier, Dustin Poirier will take on the dangerous Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299. The main event of the card will feature a highly anticipated UFC bantamweight championship fight between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera.
Dustin Poirier spoke about the stacked UFC 299 card during an interview with TMZ Sports. While suggesting that he is thrilled for the lineup, ‘The Diamond’ said:
“When the card comes together, as it starts to get announced throughout the weeks leading up and while I’m in training camp [I’m excited]. I see all these fights, and I’m like man, this is stacked, and of course, I’m gonna watch some of the prelims. The earlier prelims when I get to the arena and stuff.”
