- February 16, 2013: Poirier fought Cub Swanson in the co-main event at UFC on Fuel TV: Barao vs. McDonald and lost by unanimous decision.
- September 27, 2014: Poirier faced Conor McGregor at UFC 178 and lost by TKO in the first round.
- September 17, 2016: Poirier faced Michael Johnson in his second main event at UFC Fight Night 94 and lost by first-round knockout.
- September 7, 2019: Poirier challenged UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in a title unification bout at UFC 242 and lost by rear-naked choke submission in the third round.
- December 11, 2021: Poirier fought Charles Oliveira for the UFC Lightweight Championship at UFC 269. And lost by standing rear-naked choke submission in the third round.
