Ahead of his bout at the 304, American welterweight fighter Belal Muhammad is quite fired up. He is taking inspiration from his friend and the longest-reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. The fighter with the moniker ‘Remember the Name’ revealed his preparation for the fight against Leon Edwards this coming Sunday.
In an interview, Muhammad said he would ‘do the Khabib thing’ and walk off to Edwards’ corner in his upcoming bout at the UFC 304. He said,
“I think after the fight, I’m gonna literally walk to his corner, and do the Khabib [Nurmagomedov] thing. [I’m gonna] throw my mouthpiece at them, laugh at them, point, and maybe hop over the fence and jump on his brother.”
It will be interesting to see if the 5 ft 10 inch tall Muhammad pulls out these gimmicks this Sunday at Co-op Live Arena.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Coach Has Special Advice For Belal Muhammad
Team Khabib’s head coach, Javier Mendez, believes Muhammad will have to be way better to defeat Edwards at UFC 304. Before ‘Remember the Name’ enters the octagon this Sunday, Mendez has a unique piece of advice for him.
While speaking to The Schmo, Mendez said Muhammad ‘got to dig deep’ and make his bout ‘a very dirty fight.’ Although ‘Remember the Name’ had been training with team Khabib for the last two years, Mendez highlighted that the American missed the camp at Dagestan. Khabib’s coach said,

“He [Belal Muhammad] has to dig deep, he has to stay focused, he has to stay on task, and he has to make this fight a very dirty fight. Because if not, if it’s a technical thing, Leon’s [Edwards] too far ahead. There’s no way that I see him doing great on the outside. He’s got to be on the inside, making it a gritty, wrestling-type fight.”
Well, it seems that Belal Muhammad has taken the advice seriously. He has already revealed to do the ‘Khabib thing.’ Maybe he might as well incorporate a “wrestling-type fight” on July 28. Nevertheless, the upcoming Edwards vs. Muhammad 2 is certainly going to be an exciting contest between the two welterweights.
