Khabib Nurmagomedov has faced challenging times lately, including the tragic incidents in Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim region in southern Russia, where gunmen carried out coordinated attacks on churches and synagogues in two cities. Additionally, he was under scrutiny from Russia’s Federal Tax Service due to a $3.4 million debt. However, recent reports indicate that ‘The Eagle’ has settled his debts.
It is reported that Nurmagomedov has settled his outstanding debt of 302 million rubles ($3,398,000) with the Russian Federal Tax Service (FTS). Before paying off the debt, authorities had seized Khabib’s assets worth $920,000. Although the debt has been cleared, it remains unclear whether all seized assets have been returned to the former UFC lightweight champion.
Despite his recent struggles, Nurmagomedov continues to train his friends for their fights. Notably, after retirement, he began coaching his young aspiring fighters. One of Conor McGregor’s former teammates, Johnny Walker, recently joined his gym.
Moreover, Khabib also trained his cousin Umar Nurmagomedov for a pivotal fight in his career. His support and cornering helped Umar secure a victory over Cory Sandhagen.
