The UFC is all set to go ahead with quite possibly its biggest event of this calendar year. Conor McGregor is all set to make his comeback in the cage against a formidable opponent, former Bellator champion Michael Chandler. The UFC was set to conduct a press conference in Conor’s homeland, Dublin, Ireland. But for some reason, the presser was called off. This raised concerns if Conor is going to show up for the bout.
However, a former UFC star has squashed all the rumors and has provided fans with a major update.
Chael Sonnen Quashes Conor McGregor Withdrawl Rumors
Chael Sonnen is one of the major veterans of the game who fought for the title in two weight divisions in the cage. Rumors were going around that the Irishman is set to pull out of the scheduled bout against Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303. Sonnen addressed the rumors on his YouTube channel and gave the MMA world a relatively positive update. He said,
When you show yourself training, and you show your body is healthy and strong it starts to take away from the reasons, excuses one might use.
Chael Sonnen clarified that he believes the former two-division champion will be in the cage for the fight. He is quite active on social media and regularly updates his fans with training footage from the Octagon.
Chael says when you update your social media handles with new training footage, you will run out of excuses if you don’t appear in the octagon. Sonnen is convinced the mega fight between McGregor and Chandler will advance to the octagon.
