David Onama lived up to his nickname, “Silent Assassin,” during his preliminary bout at UFC Vegas 48 tonight.
Onama made quick work of Gabriel Benitez, knocking his opponent out cold at 4:24 of the first round. After getting rocked himself midway through the round, Onama decided enough was enough. The Silent Assassin caught Benitez with a left, and it opened the door to several more lefts and rights, putting the Mexican fighter to sleep.
It was quite the finish to the preliminary card for UFC Vegas 48, which was headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Jamahal Hill and Johnny Walker.
The win moves Onama to 9-1. Another win or two like that, and he should find his way into the top 15 rankings for the UFC’s featherweight division.
