However, down the line, when DC has hung up his gloves, the heat between the two seems to have gotten subdued. After all, Cormier now often heaps praises on his former arch-rival, Jon Jones.
Likewise, in a reunion episode of the ‘DC & RC’ podcast, the former champ was in awe looking at the longevity of Jon Jones. DC’s co-host, Ryan Clark, pointed out that ‘Bones’ started his career while the likes of Randy Couture and Chuck Lidell were playing. And now, he is still around being a champion while the likes of Tom Aspinall and Alex Pereira are ruling! This was something unbelievable for Cormier to believe. “How? How? How’s that possible?!” chimed in DC.
Surely, having had his share of controversy, Jon Jones has stood tall amidst all the odds. And while he is still the champion, a UFC analyst had some interesting bit of prediction to share about a possible match-up with Tom Aspinall.
UFC Analyst Drops Major Jon Jones Prediction
The fight that the UFC world has been waiting for a long time is that of Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall. After a lot of delay, Dana White has finally hinted at the match taking place in 2025. However, with the retirement rumors of Jones circulating, MMA Junkie reporter, Mike Bohn, stated that Jones might hang up his gloves if he can defeat Aspinall.
“If he wins most definitely I can’t see him extending it beyond,” said Bohn. He mentioned that beating Aspinall would make him silence all the hatred. It would also establish him as the greatest without a doubt. Thus, with some interesting news expected to come up, it remains to be seen what happens next.
